How to get paid to review dating profiles

Five ways to sell the advice you already give your friends, what each one pays, and what a review worth paying for looks like.

You can get paid to review dating profiles by selling written, video or live critiques through a marketplace such as RMH or Fiverr, or on your own site. On RMH you set your price and keep 80%; the median text review is $29.99, video $79.99 and a live consultation $99.99, paid weekly through Stripe Connect.

Yes, people pay for this

The person who tells everyone which photo to cut has always done this for free, over brunch or in a group chat. Plenty of daters would rather pay a reviewer who will be blunt, because their friends are too kind and the apps give them nothing but silence.

On RMH the buyers are fairly specific. Among paying customers, 96% are men, 65% are between 26 and 35, 88% are on Hinge and 85% want a long-term relationship.

They buy one of three things.

  • A written review of every photo and prompt. Median price on RMH $29.99.
  • A video review, where you talk through the profile on camera. Median $79.99.
  • A live consultation on a video call. Median $99.99.

Reddit. r/hingeapp had about 199,000 members at GummySearch’s last public count, and profile-review requests are its most common post. The rules ask for six photos and three prompts, which is a full profile to practice on. Nobody pays, and most subreddits ban self-promotion, so treat it as a gym, not a shop.

Fiverr. Listings for dating profile reviews start anywhere from $10 for a quick fix to $110 for a full revamp, with video critiques around $55 to $65. You are one gig among many, so price tends to fall, and Fiverr takes its commission from each order.

Etsy. A few sellers list profile reviews as digital services; one Hinge review was listed at $9.45 with a 24-hour turnaround.

Your own site or newsletter. The ceiling is highest. One photographer sells a $247 dating profile audit, and at least one Substack writer sells paid profile reviews to his readers. But you find every customer yourself.

RMH. A marketplace built only for this. You set the price for each package and keep 80% of it; the customer pays Apple’s fee on top, so it does not come out of your share. Payouts go out weekly on Fridays through Stripe Connect, or you can withdraw on demand. Every approved reviewer gets a public page that Google indexes.

What a review worth paying for looks like

Customers do not pay for “your photos could be stronger.” They pay for “move the dinner-party photo to first, cut the car selfie, and your second prompt could belong to anyone.” The skill is pointing at the exact thing.

RMH’s own review data shows where the specific notes land. When reviewers judged individual photos, they kept 66% of candids, 65% of dog photos and 57% of hobby shots, but only 29% of group shots, 8% of obviously posed photos and 4% of selfies. Half of the profiles they saw still included a selfie. Uniqueness was the lowest of the four scores in 67% of reviews.

The lead photo is where reviewers earn their fee. A quarter of lead photos had a neutral or serious mood, a fifth were shot in a bar, restaurant or party, and 13% were selfies. When reviewers went looking for a better opener, it was already further down the profile about half the time.

Real notes from RMH reviews read like this.

  • “Better lighting, different backgrounds, full body, some with friends.”
  • “Take more candid ones on phone, the pics look too saturated or edited.”
  • “Lots of t-shirt photos, style is a huge indicator of status and self awareness.”

Reviewers also send people onward. They recommend new photos in more than a third of reviews.

How pay works on RMH

You set a price for each package and keep 80% of it. At today’s median prices that is $23.99 for a $29.99 text review, $63.99 for a $79.99 video review and $79.99 for a $99.99 live consultation. The customer pays Apple’s fee on top, so it never comes out of your share. Payouts go out weekly on Fridays through Stripe Connect, or you can withdraw on demand.

Every approved reviewer gets a public page that Google can index, which people reach from search, an Instagram bio or a friend’s link. A quarter of reviewers who have been booked got their first booking within two days of approval, and more than half within a month.

Who gets accepted on RMH

Every application is read by a person, and a decision usually comes within a few days. You need photos, a short bio, the packages you want to offer and your prices. The intro video is optional. The application is in the RMH app on iPhone or Android; on a computer, you can start on the web with a sample critique.

The reviewers on RMH today include a dating coach who works in tech, a startup engineer, a physical therapist and a former Hinge employee. What they share is the ability to be specific and kind at once. It is not for people who need a guaranteed income, people who cannot bring themselves to say a photo does not work, or anyone who would leave a customer waiting past the two to three business days they were promised.

We are recruiting in every city our customers date in. The reviewers wanted page lists the cities.

How to start this week

  1. Practice on three real profiles. Find review requests on r/hingeapp and write a full critique for each. Time yourself. A good written review takes thought, not hours.
  2. Write one critique you would be proud to be paid for. Our web pre-application has a demo profile built for this, with a weak lead photo and a generic prompt to find.
  3. Price close to the market to start. Medians on RMH are $29.99 for text, $79.99 for video and $99.99 for a live call. You can raise them once you have ratings.
  4. Share your page once you are approved. Put it in your bio and send it to friends who keep asking for your opinion on their profiles.

Questions about getting paid to review profiles

Can you really get paid to review dating profiles?

Yes. People pay for written, video and live reviews of their Hinge, Tinder and Bumble profiles on marketplaces such as RMH and Fiverr, and through independent coaches. On RMH the median text review is priced at $29.99 and the reviewer keeps 80%.

How much does a dating profile review pay?

On RMH you set the price and keep 80%. At the current median prices that is $23.99 for a $29.99 text review, $63.99 for a $79.99 video review and $79.99 for a $99.99 live consultation. On Fiverr, listings we saw started between $10 and $110.

Do I need experience or a certification?

No. What matters is being specific about which photo should lead, which to cut and which prompt reads like everyone else's. Coaching, photography or styling experience helps but is not required on RMH.

Is Fiverr or RMH better for selling profile reviews?

They work differently. On Fiverr you compete with many gigs on price, and listings we saw started between $10 and $110. On RMH customers come looking for a reviewer, you set your own price and keep 80%, and your public page is indexed by Google. Some people use both.

Can I do this from outside the US?

You can apply from anywhere, and RMH wants reviewers in Toronto and London. Customers outside the US book less often than US customers, so expect fewer bookings. The application is in the RMH app on iPhone or Android.
