There are 50 prompts to choose from, and blank ones are hidden (OkCupid help (opens in a new tab)). You can also send one Intro before someone likes you back, and it sits next to your profile when they see it. OkCupid adds that over 75% of people say they’re less likely to reply to a profile with spelling mistakes.

Six versions of the same portrait
Even OkCupid’s help center thinks “6 classic portraits is too much” (OkCupid help (opens in a new tab)). Six of them read like a headshot photographer’s portfolio.

The prompts are all one word
With 50 prompts to choose from, picking the generic ones is a choice. A one-word answer gives a match nothing to write about.

The Intro is just “hey”
