Dating profile photos
Book a dating profile photographer, or brief the one you already have
RMH sets the price, matches you to a vetted photographer or guides a friend through the shoot, and your reviewer picks the photos that go on your profile.
A dating profile photographer shoots photos made for apps like Hinge rather than for LinkedIn. RMH books the shoot for you. A Guided Self-Shoot is $149 in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Miami, less elsewhere, and works anywhere. A Signature Shoot with a vetted photographer is priced by city, and you see the price before you pay RMH, tips included. Either way your reviewer picks the final photos, because reviewers keep candid photos about two thirds of the time and posed photos or selfies less than one time in ten. Prefer your own photographer? The shot list is free.
Do you need a photographer?
Maybe not yet. In about half the profiles we looked at closely, a better first photo was already in the profile, further down. Moving it to the front costs nothing.
Reviewers recommend new photos in more than a third of reviews, so it is common, but it is not the default. A profile review tells you whether you need one before you spend a few hundred dollars finding out, and if you do, exactly which shots are missing.

The shot list
Whoever takes the photos, give them a brief. The RMH shot list is six shots built from what reviewers keep and cut, plus what to leave out and what to wear. It is free, and every RMH photographer shoots to it.
The opener
Head and shoulders to waist, a real smile, eyes to camera, daylight, a calm background. No sunglasses, no hat, no bar.
Full body
Standing or walking, outdoors, in an outfit that fits. One photo should show your build and height honestly.
The hobby, in action
Doing the thing, not holding the equipment. Guitar being played, food being cooked, a trail being climbed. This is where uniqueness comes from.
The candid
Mid-laugh or mid-conversation, not looking at the camera. Shoot many and keep one.
One social shot
With one or two friends, where it is obvious which one is you. Only one, because group shots are the photos reviewers cut most often after selfies and posed shots.
A second setting
A different place and outfit from the opener, so the profile does not look like one afternoon. If you have a dog, this is its photo.
Request a shoot
Tell us where you are, what you want and roughly what you would like to spend. If a reviewer recommended new photos, tell us who, and paste their notes if you like. A person at RMH replies within two business days with the right shoot for your city and its price. Nothing is charged until you confirm.
Booking your own photographer
A photographer who shoots good headshots is not automatically a good dating photographer. The brief is different. If you book someone yourself, ask these questions first.
Do you shoot in daylight, on location?
The hour after sunrise or before sunset, in two or three places within walking distance, beats a studio backdrop.
How do you direct people who are not models?
You want someone who gives you something to do, like walking or talking, rather than a pose to hold.
How do you edit?
Natural color. Reviewers have asked people to replace photos that look too saturated or edited.
How many finished photos will I get?
Fifteen to thirty finished photos is plenty. A gallery of hundreds leaves the hard choice to you.
Will you deliver portrait crops?
Dating apps show photos in portrait. Ask for crops that work there, not only landscape frames.
After the shoot, your reviewer picks
On an RMH booking, the pick is part of the service. Proofs go to your reviewer, who chooses your best photos and the order, and those are the ones that get edited. If fewer than five photos make your reviewer's cut, we reshoot for free.
Shot it yourself, or with your own photographer? Book the same reviewer again in the app and upload the new set. It costs the reviewer’s normal price. Photos are not the only thing reviewers recommend. For style, grooming and packages, see what we can book after your review.
How we choose photographers
Every photographer we match you with agrees to the RMH standard. They shoot to the shot list, read your brief before the shoot, send proofs to your reviewer, and deliver the edited photos within a week of the pick. RMH reviews customer feedback and the reviewer’s notes before matching a photographer again.
You pay RMH, not the photographer, and RMH pays them. Your reviewer is not paid a commission for the recommendation.
Photographers can read the standard and apply. For how a dedicated photographer compares with a profile review, see RMH vs The Match Artist, and for what reviewers flag across whole profiles, the 2026 Dating Profile Report.

Are professional photos worth it?
Are professional photos worth it?
Reviewers keep professional-shoot photos 56% of the time, below candid photos at 66%. Quality helps. Looking like a photoshoot does not, so the brief matters as much as the photographer. RMH photographers shoot to the shot list, and your reviewer picks the final set.
What should I wear?
What should I wear?
Two or three outfits that fit, in solid colors, at least one step above a plain t-shirt. Clothes come up in three of every four video reviews, so plan outfits before locations.
